Lilac Fair 2026: thank you

Thank you to everyone who came to the Lilac Fair on 16 and 17 May, and to everyone who stayed on Sunday afternoon when the rain arrived at about three o’clock.

Ninety-eight stallholders took part. The procession and the wreath-laying at the statue went ahead on Saturday in sunshine, and this year the wreath was laid by Edna Lomas, who has walked in every procession since 1952.

The cordial committee made 1,486 bottles, which sold out at twenty to four on Sunday. Attendance is estimated at about 8,900 over the weekend.

Collecting tins at the statue raised £1,214 towards the statue conservation project.
